Potential and current vendors, please review these pages to become familar with ReptiDay's rules and show schedule, and also to review State and local laws and requirements. You may also register for tables using our online form or contact the appropriate vendor coordinator.

 

South Carolina Rules & Information

These Rules & Information are provided as a convenience to Repticon vendors and exhibitors, and may not be comprehensive for every animal. Each vendor is responsible for researching and complying with all current laws regarding their animals.

*Recent changes in SC policy now require most vendors to obtain a $50 retail license.  Please see the attached letter from the SC Department of Revenue to vendors (Click Here) and form SCDOR111 (Click Here) for details.  All further inquiries or questions should be directed to the SC Department of Revenue. 


Mammal Policy for South Carolina

No mammals indigenous to South Carolina are allowed. To view a list of mammals native to South Carolina, click here – http://www.mammalsociety.org/mammals-south-carolina

Mammals coming from out of state must have a veterinary health certificate dated within 7 days of show.

All Vendors bringing personal pets must have current shots and health certificate for the animal, and must keep the animal under control at all times.

State Regulations

No Southern Hognose Snakes (state) NEW!

No Bogg, Spotted Turtles (state) NEW!

No Gopher Tortoises (state) NEW!


Lexington County Regulations (for Columbia shows)

No Croc Monitors. (county)

No Water Monitors. (county)

No Crocodilia (county)

These animals can NOT be sold to anyone who lives in the unincorporated area of Lexington county. Signs will be posted for vendors that sell these animals, plus waivers will be required for the buyer to sign stating that they do not live within this area. NEW!

City of Mt Pleasant Regulations (for Charleston show)

No Venomous
No Constrictors over 6'
No Crocodiles over 30"
No apes or old world primates
No big cats or exotic dogs

Live animals are not allowed to be given away for commercial purposes, such as in raffles or contests


Greenville County Regulations (for Greenville show) NEW!

Wild or exotic animals permit from Greenville county animal control is required for all venomous, crocodilians, and constrictors exceeding 5' in the wild. This permit is not required for non resident vendors to sell these animals but Greenville county residents who buy these animals will be required to obtain a permit. Brochures from animal control regarding this permit will be available at the show.
Cost: $50/application and $10/animal


Repticon Venomous Animal Policies
(for South Carolina Venomous Shows Only)

Waivers – All vendors with venomous snakes must sign a waiver upon check in and have all customers do the same.

All Venomous Vendors and their Staff – No Open Toed Shoes allowed! NEW!

Containers – All venomous reptiles must be housed in secured, taped and unbreakable containers and labeled as such prior to the customers leaving with purchase. No venomous reptiles may be removed from containers and lids of such containers shall not be removed, except in the hot room. NO venomous reptile will be taken out of its container nor will the container be unsealed under any circumstances other then in the hot room.

Only RED tape will be allowed on venomous containers. Red tape is to be used ONLY on venomous containers. This will be in effect starting 6/20/2009

Sales Policies & Procedures – Venomous snakes are not to be sold to anyone under 18 or to anyone who obviously does not possess the knowledge or experience to handle venomous snakes. Venomous reptiles which have been sold will be tagged and remain at vendors’ booth until buyer is departing from show. Customer is to sign a waiver; then advise customer to return when ready to depart from the building. At this time the vendor will give the waiver and reptiles to show staff or Venomous Staff who will escort the customer as they exit the show. Any vendor not adhering to this policy and giving their customers venomous reptiles purchased will be ejected from the show immediately and no refund issued.

Please note: Netting ( to cover all venomous) will be required by the 2010 November Show! NEW!
All venomous animals not in display cases or covered with glass are required to be covered with netting. Netting will be available to vendors that do not have it for a small fee.
